1 Tim 3:14-15 “A Beautiful, Messy Family”

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins 2 in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience— 3 among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. – Ephesians 2:1-3 (ESV)

4 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, 5 even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. – Ephesians 2:4-5 (ESV)

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16

“I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me,says the Lord Almighty.” – 2 Corinthians 6:16-18 (ESV)

17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, – Ephesians 2:17-19 (ESV)

1. If God is our Father, then our aim is to be like Him and please Him.

Therefore, be imitators of God as beloved children. – Ephesians 5:1 (ESV)

8 Philip said to him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” 9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and you still do not know me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. – John 14:8-9 (ESV)

2. If we are brothers and sisters, then we are committed to helping each other see and treasure God

My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it. – Luke 8:21 (ESV)

3. If we live by the household rules, we show off the wisdom of our God.
