1. God’s mercy motivates our every day holiness

For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under the power of sin, 10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” – Romans 3:9-10 (ESV)

What makes sin so serious is precisely the fact that man is now using God-given and God-imaging powers to do things that are an affront to His Maker. – Anthony Hoekema

Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. – Romans 8:1-4 (ESV)

2. God’s mercy transforms us in every day holiness
