And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” – Genesis 1:28 (ESV)

1. Christians are called to obey those in authority above them.

  • Respectfully
  • Sincerely
  • Eagerly

For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. – Romans 13:1 (ESV)

66 Thus says the Lord: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool; what is the house that you would build for me, and what is the place of my rest? 2 All these things my hand has made, and so all these things came to be, declares the Lord. But this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word. – Isaiah 66:1-2 (ESV)

2. Christians are called to remember God in their use of authority

  • Do the same
  • Stop your threatening

Application:

  1. Do you eagerly desire to serve those above you from the heart? Why or why not?

  2. Do you see God as ultimately behind all the people God has placed in authority over you?

  3. What changes in your attitude/actions should you make to honor Christ?
