For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. – Matthew 7:14 (ESV)

If our king was tested, tempted, opposed, rejected, and eventually crucified by this world, should it take us by surprise that belonging to this kingdom involves us in a heroic struggle? – Sinclair Ferguson

What is meekness?

He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: [10] “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. [11] The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. [12] I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ [13] But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ [14] I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted. Luke 18:9-14 (ESV)

What does it mean to be meek?

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. [35] By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another. – John 13:34-35 (ESV)

What does it mean for you to be meek?

The man who is truly meek is the one who is amazed that God and man can think of him as well as they do and treat him as well as they do…Finally, I would put it like this. We are to leave everything—ourselves, our rights, our cause, or whole future—in the hand of God, and especially so if we feel we are suffering unjustly. – M. Lloyd-Jones
