The following night the Lord stood by him and said, “Take courage, for as you have testified to the facts about me in Jerusalem, so you must testify also in Rome.” – Acts 23:11 (ESV)

1. The Dangerous Storm

2. The Destructive Shipwreck

3. The Deadly Snakebite

It is not our fallen nature that He tries, the existence of whose depravity is clear and unmistakable. There needs no proof that we are sinful and corrupt, and that ‘in our flesh there dwells no good thing.’ But the Lord tries His own work of grace in the soul. He tries everything divine, and good, and holy in the regenerate. He tries their principles, he tries their motives, he tries their graces, he tries their knowledge, he tries their experience, he tries His own work. – Octavius Winslow

An unbreakable chain of faith:

  1. Through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, he has forgiven us our sins, counted us as righteous, adopted us as sons and daughters, and set his steadfast covenant love upon us for all eternity — Ephesians 1:3-14
  2. That in Christ we have a mission to accomplish, just like Paul — Acts 20:24
  3. God will never leave us nor forsake us in this mission — Hebrews 13:5
  4. All who desire to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be persecuted — 2 Timothy 3:12
  5. He works all things together for your good – Romans 8:28
  6. Nothing can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus — Romans 8:32
  7. To live is Christ, to die is gain — Philippians 1:21

What we call the beginning is often the end. And to make an end is to make a beginning. The end is where we start from. – TS Elliott
